How to Play Backgammon
Filed Under strategiesThe point of play involved in backgammon is to carry all your checkers, white or black, into your own home board so that you can start to eliminate them from the board. The conqueror of the game is the first player who will bear off all of his checkers.
Beginning to play
To begin a game of backgammon, every player throws a single dice and the player that rolls the maximum number plays first. If equivalent numbers arise when each of them roll, then both players continue rolling their dice until they roll different numbers.
Generally, the first player exercises the joint numbers on the previously thrown dice to begin, even though this rule is not callously followed these days. Following the first turn, the players alternate turns and roll two dice every time.
The roll of the dice indicates how many points or pips the player is to move his checkers.
Backgammon checkers can by no way move backwards, they only move forward towards their personal home boards, meaning the white and black pieces are for all time moving in opposite directions around the backgammon board, one player moving his checkers clockwise whilst the other responding to the clockwise move.
A solitary checker on a point is called as a blot and may be hit by the opponent. Checkers of dissimilar colors may not occupy the similar point. Thus, a blot is detached by landing on it with one of the opponent pieces, which is as well known as a hit.
The doubling cube is a dice with the numbers 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 and 64 mentions on it which is applied for raising the stakes at backgammon matches and tournaments.
Bearing off is the final stage of a backgammon game, taking out your pieces from the home board. In order to start this action all of your 15 checkers should be in the home board.
The winner of the game is the first player to bear off all of his checkers.
